Port d'Andratx has no big beach of its own. What it has is a coast full of small bays, each facing a different way, so on any day there is one that is flat and one that is rough. The trick is knowing which. That is the first thing on this page, worked out from today's wind.

The only real sand beach between the port and Peguera. Shallow and calm, the islet restaurant over the footbridge, crabs under the bridge. Free parking behind the beach, full by eleven in summer.
Sand at the end of the road, the island of Dragonera in front of you, sunbeds and parasols, lunch fifty metres away. Sunset over the island.
No sand. Flat rock shelves and iron ladders straight into deep clear water. The best snorkelling close to the port. Gran Folies beach club sits above it.
A small hidden cove of stones and clear water. Easy to reach, few people out of season. One of the few spots where people bring their dogs.
A quiet cove before the village, with a rice restaurant on the terrace above.
No bar, no sunbeds, few people. Take water, good shoes and go early.
Thirty to forty-five minutes on a rocky path. Clear water at the bottom and the feeling of being far away. Sport shoes, not sandals.
The locals' cove. Twenty minutes on foot, steep. Boats anchor here in summer.
My beach. A pocket of sand inside the port with one small beach bar on it, feet in the sand. Snorkel first, then a table.
